Singapore probably doesn’t spring to mind when you’re thinking of great places to get married but you should consider it because it’s an amazing destination and there are a lot of great wedding destinations there. The only downside is that it’s quite a way to go and planning a wedding out there will be a lot harder than planning one at home. However, if you set your mind to it and make sure that you give yourselves enough time to bring everything together, it is possible. If you think that a Singapore wedding might be for you, here are a few tips to help with the planning.

Ask Guests First

Destination weddings can be tricky because not everybody can afford to go abroad and some people have other commitments that mean that they can’t leave the country for too long. That’s why it’s always a good idea to ask your guests before you plan a destination wedding. If you ask around and the majority of people tell you that they won’t be able to make it, you might want to reconsider and either have the wedding at home or at least pick a country that is easier for people to get to. But if most of your guests are happy to fly out to Singapore, you can go ahead and start planning.

Finding Accommodation

When everybody arrives for the wedding, you’ll need somewhere for them to stay. There are plenty of luxury hotels in Singapore and you and your partner might decide that you want to stay there, but it’s not cost effective for everybody else to pay for an expensive hotel room, especially if they’re already flying out. As an alternative, you can rent Singapore apartments fairly cheap and get people to share. It’ll be easier because everybody has a place to get ready on the morning of the wedding and it’s not going to be as expensive as getting a hotel room.

Sort Out The Legal Aspect

If you want your marriage to be legal, you need to apply for a license ahead of time. It varies from place to place but in Singapore, you’ll need to apply at least 21 days before the date of the wedding so make sure that you don’t miss the deadline, otherwise, you won’t be able to get married. Once you’ve applied for your wedding license, you need to find a Justice of the Peace to perform the actual ceremony for you.

Choosing A Venue

Choosing the right venue is the most important part of planning your Singapore wedding, the good news is, you’ve got a lot of options. If you want to wow your guests, you could consider getting married in the Salt Grill and Sky Bar. This amazing venue on the 55th floor has incredible views of Singapore and lunch will be cooked by world famous chef Luke Mangan. It seats around 100 guests and it is one of the more expensive options for a wedding in Singapore.

If you’re looking for something a little less flashy, Burkill Hall is a great option. It’s situated in the picturesque Singapore Botanical Gardens and set up for outdoor weddings. It has room for up to 180 guests and it’s quite a bit cheaper than the Salt Grill and Sky Bar. If you’re looking for a more intimate wedding, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this is the place to go.

Those venues are great but if you’re planning a big wedding with loads of guests, you might not fit everybody in. In that case, you should look at Flower Field Hall. It’s located in the Gardens at the Bay so the surroundings are very nice and you can fit up to 700 guests inside so there should be plenty of room for everybody. It has beautiful views of the bay which is ideal for a wedding.

Hopefully, this has given you a bit more direction and you’re ready to start planning the details of your Singapore wedding.
