Getting Married In The Countryside: Everything You Need To Know

Country weddings can be spectacular. And they tend to be more relaxing, too. You and your guests have so much space to enjoy yourselves.

However, if you are considering a rural wedding, you’ll need to do a little extra planning. Escaping the concrete jungle has some benefits, but there are also some logistical concerns as well. Here’s what you need to know:

Getting Married In The Countryside: Everything You Need To Know

Prepare Your Budget Accordingly

Getting married in a field in the middle of nowhere is fairly cheap. You just need to hire an official, rent the land, and bring some chairs with you. However, if you’ve chosen a country house venue, you’ll need to budget accordingly. As a general rule of thumb, the more remote you want your wedding to be, the more you’ll have to spend. That’s because it costs suppliers and others more money to get to the venue and prepare everything for you.

Use Vendors From A Wider Area

If you’re getting married in the city, it makes sense to pick local vendors. This way, you avoid high travel feels being added to your expenses.

However, if you are planning on getting married in the country, you can broaden your search area. You don’t just have to pick whoever is offering services in your local city. Instead, you can pick the best people in your county or even country.

It’s not uncommon for couples having rural weddings to fly top vendors to their location. This way, they can get the best of everything for their special day.

Check The Wedding Venue For Phone Signal

Most rural wedding venues have WiFi. However, if they don’t, you’ll want to check for phone signal.

Phones are important on wedding days for all sorts of reasons. Communicating with guests, for instance, is one example, but there are many others. For instance, if you are going off-grid, it helps to be in contact with someone from back home if something goes wrong. It also makes it easy to communicate with vendors on-site, negating the need to carry walkie-talkies around with you all day long.

Give Guests Detailed Directions

Rural locations are typically difficult to find, particularly if there are only a few local landmarks. Therefore, you’ll need to give people detailed directions on how to get to your venue.

Remember, in many cases, satellite navigation will be insufficient. Directions may be wrong, or lead cars down incorrect tracks on the way to your venue.

When writing directions, write them as if you were the one following them. Talk about local landmarks and icons that will help people find the venue more easily.

Make Sure There Are Enough Beds

Finally, you’ll want to make sure that you have enough beds at the wedding venue to let people stay overnight. While some people will go home, the majority of guests attending a rural location will want to stay over with you to avoid having to rush back so quickly. Many of them will be drinking as well, which means they can’t always drive themselves home.
