4 Things To Give Up When Saving For Your Dream Wedding

Your wedding day will be one of the biggest and most important days of your life, so understandably, you will want it to be the best it can possibly be.

You’ll be visiting dress stores both online and off. You’ll be salivating over the fine ring selections at stores akin to Hatton Garden Jewellers. And you’ll be researching wedding venues in your hunt to find the perfect place to get married. The upshot of all this of course is the need to spend money!

You can save on your wedding costs, of course, but there will be some things you might not want to skimp on. For this reason, you will need to make some sacrifices while you’re saving up for your big day.

Here are some of the things you might want to give up in the meantime.

#1: Impulse purchases

Now is not the time to go crazy with your credit card. Whether you’re online or on the high street, you need to put aside thoughts of those purchases that won’t add much to your life right now. Be it an extra something for your wardrobe or something luxurious for your home, hold off, and remember the things you need to buy for your wedding day. You could always put a few items on your wedding gift list, so if you see something you really like, encourage other people to make the purchase instead.

#2: Going out on the town with friends

Even one night on the town can cost you a small fortune, especially when you factor in the cost of food, drinks, and perhaps even a new outfit for the night too. Of course, you could encourage your mates to get the drinks in, and you could re-wear an old outfit too. But to save money, have a few girlie nights in, watch a few wedding-themed movies to get you all hyped for the big day, and eat home-cooked foods instead of takeaways to make extra savings.

#3: A vacation away

If you’re in the midst of planning for your dream honeymoon, you don’t want to jet off on an expensive vacation away in the meantime. By resisting the urge to leave your home town, you will have more money to spend on the hotel and the activities you want to take part in on your honeymoon. So, have a staycation instead, or if you do want to go away, consider camping somewhere scenic at a place not too far from where you live.

#4: Your bad habits

If you ever wanted an excuse to give up your bad habits, let your wedding day be it. Whether your habit is smoking, drinking, eating fast foods, or something else besides, kick them into touch. Not only will you save money if you do, but you will also improve your health, and that will prove beneficial to you when you’re needing the energy to get everything together for your wedding.

We know making sacrifices can be hard but look at the bigger picture. You will need as much money as you can for your wedding day and honeymoon, so keep that in mind when you’re making changes to your usual lifestyle.
