Wedding Planning Basics

Choosing Spring Wedding Colors

Spring is one of the most popular seasons in which to get married. For ages, spring has been synonymous with romance. It is also a time of rebirth and new life, a time of newly blossoming flowers, nourishing sunlight and gentle rain showers. If you’re planning a spring wedding, you should aim to select colors for your wedding and reception that celebrate the beauty and romance of the season.

Nature Inspired Palettes

The best place to look for spring wedding colors is in nature. Vibrant grass green, pale sky blue, soft buttercup yellow, romantic rose-pink and fresh lilac purple are all ideas of nature-inspired shades. You can try pairing these shades together or choose one of them to pair with a neutral. Green and pink works well together, as does purple and yellow. Or, try something like sky blue paired with gold or white. You could go with different shades of the same color. An example might be light and dark pink or light and dark purple.

Carrying On Your Color Scheme

Your wedding colors can be reflected everywhere. Choose flowers that match your wedding colors. For example, if your colors are green and pink, lots of green foliage with pink roses would be ideal. You could have bunches of green and pink balloons, green and pink punch, and of course, green and pink streamers. Even your wedding cake can be decorated to match your color scheme. For romantic illumination, go for regular or floating candles in your colors of choice. No matter what colors you select, there are lots of ways to incorporate them into your big day.

Spring Flowers

Maybe you want to base your wedding colors around a specific flower. If you love daisies, try yellow and white for your wedding colors, then incorporate the daisies into your bridal bouquet and wedding flowers. You can even top your wedding cake with matching flowers crafted from frosting. Tulips are another fresh choice for spring. And, they come in all different colors. One gorgeous tulip-based choice is bright pink paired with leaf green.

When it comes to selecting wedding colors, you should choose colors that you actually like. The only rule of thumb is to stay away from heavy, dark shades in the spring. For example, dark jewel tones like burgundy, navy blue and emerald green are normally too heavy for a spring wedding. Keep things light and fresh to promote a romantic mood that honors the beauty and light of the springtime season.
