Wedding Planning

Wedding Tasks That Grooms Always Forget

It might seem like an unfair generalisation but men – at least quite a few of them – don’t spend years dreaming about a wedding, planning it to a tee. In fact, for a guy, you might find that the most important aspect of the wedding is over once they have completed the proposal. They spent months planning that to make sure it was perfect and probably aren’t eager to jump right into planning a wedding. That doesn’t mean they’re not excited for the ceremony or being married but rather that they’ll need a few nudges in the right direction during the planning stages. Here are a few of the things you may need to remind the groom to do.

Pick A Best Man

It’s rather difficult to plan a wedding without a maid of honour and a best man in place. After all, these two individuals are responsible for large parts of planning the wedding themselves. For one thing, they have to organise the hen party and stag night. Unfortunately while you might have known who your maid of honor was going to be since you were eight the same probably isn’t true for the groom.

So, a little nudge and perhaps even a few suggestions about possible candidates might be helpful here. If they don’t seem to be moving the threat of a distant relative on your side that they have only met once or twice should get the ball rolling quite quickly. Don’t forget both the maid of honour and the best man each gets a gift. So, make sure you both spend a little time finding the perfect gift for your best man and the perfect gift for your maid of honour at your wedding.

Write The Vows

Have you decided to write your own vows? You brave souls! It sounds like a wonderful idea at the time, but it can mean trouble if one person’s pen flows beautifully while the other’s only dribbles messy blotches across the page. Worse still, you might find one person’s vows haven’t been written on the big day!

The best way to handle this would be to make sure there’s a day before the wedding that you will both spend writing your vows, preferably in separate rooms. That way neither of you will forget to write some truly beautiful wedding vows.

You probably dream of looking like a true princess on your wedding day. This dream can go up in flames if you have to stand next to the love of your life who looks like they’ve hastily dressed for a last minute job interview. Do make sure that you remind the groom to get their suit ready and professionally pressed before the big day. If it’s creased all over it will show up on the pictures. They might also need reminding to shine their shoes and the night before to set the alarm.

A lot of brides to be don’t like to give their grooms these types of reminders for fear of transforming into a terrifying bridezilla. But it’s far better to strike a little fear as opposed to one of the best days of your life being spoiled slightly by a forgetful groom.
