Buying an Off-the-Rack Wedding Dress
Finding
and buying a dream wedding dress is something every Bride
desperately wants. Ever since the day you got engaged, you have been
scanning every magazine to find the dress of your dreams. And you
finally find it as a sample dress, ready to buy off-the-rack at a
bridal store. But is that putting you off from buying it?
The fact that you got your dress so easily at a bargain price
without having to do a number of trials and fitting sessions
shouldn’t come in the way of your joy. If the dress is really good
and fits you well, it could be really the best choice for you. And
it is also the best way to get an original designer dress for an
affordable price range.
A little attention to detail is all that is required on your part
when buying your dress. Here are some things that you need to keep
in mind when buying an off-the-rack wedding dress.
1. The cost of the dress may be very impressive but take into
consideration the cost of alterations before you finally decide to
buy it. Specifically ask for what will be included in the
alterations. Doe it include altering the bustle, hem, fitting,
fixing beading/embroidery, replacing beads/zippers/buttons, etc.?
2. Check the condition of the dress. Is it dirty from lying on
display? Are there any stains on it? Will the store get it cleaned
and pressed for you? Will they charge for the service?
3. Examine the dress carefully for any tears and missing beadwork,
straps, lining, petticoats etc.
4. Ask the store’s seamstress take a look at the dress along with
you. She is the person who will be able to tell you right away if it
will be possible to make desired alterations and repairs etc.
5. Take along a relative or a family member whom you can count upon
for an honest opinion before you make this big decision.
6. Get everything in writing from the store and ask for a money-back
guarantee in case the dress isn’t what you first saw it after the
cleaning and alterations.
7. Finally, don’t be too hasty in making your decision. Take time
and look around. You don’t want to buy a dress and then realize that
you really want a different dress from a different store when it’s
too late.
