Do-It-Yourself Manicure for Brides - Regular Manicure
Start taking care of your nails months before the wedding. Hands are
a main attraction when everyone will be looking at that wedding
ring. So you don’t want your nails to be broken or chipped. They
should be in perfect shape.
Weekly manicure can do wonders for your nails and cuticles. Not only
will it promote faster nail growth, your nails will also become
stronger with each manicure. Go have it professionally done or do it
you at home. Professional manicures are a treat, but could be
expensive if done on regular basis. Home manicures cost less and
give desired results if done regularly.
Here is the step-by-step way to do manicures at home like the
professional’s do:
1. Remove old nail polish with a nail polish remover and cotton,
then wash your hands with soapy water and dry with a soft towel.
2. Use clippers and a nail filer to shape your nails. When you file,
be sure not to saw back and forth-it weakens the nails. Instead
start at one edge and move across the top in one fluid motion.
3. Then fill a bowl with warm water and add few drops of liquid soap
or shampoo or a special nail cream. Soak your hands in the bowl for
at least five to ten minutes.
4. After soaking your hands dry them with a clean towel, then place
your hands on the other towel on the table and rest them.
5. Then put cuticle cream on each of the nails and rub it gently.
6. Never use a cuticle cutter it can cause infections, instead use a
cuticle stick to gently push back cuticles.
7. After you have finished, rinse your hands in warm clean water and
pat dry. Then apply a moisturizing hand lotion. Massage properly so
the hands and nails soak the cream before wiping off the excess.
8. Then swipe each nail with a cotton ball soaked in polish remover
to get rid of cream on the nail so polish can be applied.
9. Apply a base coat on each nail and let it dry for at least two to
three minutes.
10. Then apply any color, be sure to coat twice giving a gap of at
least one minute between the coats.
You should be able to cover each nail with three strokes - one on
each side, one down the middle. If you get polish on the skin, don't
worry; just wait until everything is dry and use a cotton ball
dipped in nail polish remover and remove the excess.
When the polish has dried, apply a topcoat and always remember the
longer you let those gorgeous nails dry, the less likely they'll
smudge. So sit back and relax – for about ten minutes.
