'Tea Party' Bridal Shower Theme

A tea party themed bridal shower can be a sophisticated way to celebrate an upcoming wedding! Perfect for spring or summer, the best place to have a tea party is outdoors in the sunshine. However, if weather doesn't permit or you prefer an inside event, it is possible to have a great tea party indoors as well. You can hold an indoors bridal tea party at a traditional tea house, or for a less costly location, in your home.

Color Scheme: Think nature! Lots of green, accented with shades of rose, pink, lilac, yellow -- any colors that you think are reminiscent of an English garden.

Invitations: Traditional invitations with dignified script accented with floral print can be great. Or, you can go whimsical and order invitations shaped like teacups!

Flowers and Decorations: Flowers are a must when hosting a tea party shower. Roses are especially good for decorating an elegant tea party. And don't forget the tea accessories! Make sure to have lots of cute tea cups, saucers and tea pots in feminine floral patterns that match the colors of your chosen scheme.

Food: Tea, of course! Offer guests many different varieties of tea in attractive ceramic pots. Serve traditional tea party fare such as finger sandwiches made from cucumber and watercress, as well as scones, muffins and miniature tea cakes.

Gifts: Although traditional bridal shower gifts can be given at a tea party themed shower, items such as tea sets and samplers can be great as well. Present the bride with serving trays, tea pots, tea cups, serving implements, and other tea related gifts to keep the giving theme-related. For party favors, give guests a variety of gourmet tea bags wrapped in pretty packaging.

Games and Activities: A traditional game for an outdoor tea party is croquet. However, you can still play all the traditional bridal shower games you may already have in mind.
