How to Word Engagement Announcements for the Newspaper

First, call local newspapers, or any publication you wish the announcement to be in and ask what their guidelines are. Some publications may have a standard form you must use, while others have specifications for photo usage (size, color or black and white, and format.)

A standard form reads:

If you want the photograph back enclose a self-addressed-stamped-envelope (SASE) and write your name and address on the back of the picture. Be sure to include your name and contact information on the form incase there are any questions.
