Autumn/Fall Wedding Theme
Autumn, also called Fall, is a magical time of year when the weather
becomes crisp and cool and the leaves turn breathtaking shades of
red, yellow and orange before fluttering from their branches to the
ground. While June remains the most popular month in which to wed,
fall is quickly becoming a popular time to tie the knot as well. And
why not? Fall is a beautiful season when nature gives us one last
fiery display before the icy winter season takes over. If you're
planning a fall wedding, check out our ideas for wedding
decorations, flowers, food and more!
Color Schemes: Choosing a color scheme is an important part
of any wedding. For fall, steer clear of pastels and lean more
towards confident jewel tones, classic neutrals like ivory, rich
neutrals like chocolate brown, and shades that reflect the beauty of
nature like pumpkin and eggplant. One idea is to choose a neutral
base color like ivory or brown then an accent color that is more
adventurous. Some good combinations are ivory and gold, chocolate
and pale blue, and for a whimsical fall wedding, orange and black.
Wedding Table Decorations: Bring the fall theme to the table
with cute seasonal centerpieces. Some ideas include bouquets of fall
blooming flowers accented with faux gold leaf or boughs of preserved
autumn leaves. Or, go simple and arrange small pumpkins and
decorative gourds in a festive basket or bowl. Choose dinnerware and
placemats that complement or match your wedding colors, and be sure
to use lots of ribbon, balloons and candles in the same hues.
Seasonal Menu: For your menu, think fall favorites like
savory stew, glazed ham, macaroni and cheese, sweet potatoes and of
course, pumpkin pie! Try a pumpkin flavored wedding cake, or at the
least, adorn your wedding cake with faux fall leaves or fall
blooming flowers like colorful mums, daisies, roses and even lilies.
Flowers: And speaking of flowers, fall is still a great time
of year to enjoy them. In addition to the flowers mentioned above,
fall weddings are a great time to utilize blossoms like sunflowers,
turtlehead, goldenrod, and even tropical hibiscus. See more choices

Stationery and Favors: The fall theme can be carried into
your wedding stationery and even wedding favors. Try invitations
embossed with pictures of fall foliage or featuring autumn colors.
For wedding favors, wrap small candies in colored tulle and secure
with rustic raffia. Or, choose traditional favors like miniature
bottles of blowing bubbles in colored packaging that reflects the
shades of the season.
For any fall themed wedding, think natural. Take a look at the
splendor around you and try to duplicate it in different aspects of
your wedding and reception. Your fall wedding is the perfect
opportunity to express your creativity and celebrate the beauty of
the season.
