Wedding Cards
Wedding cards aren’t restricted to just wedding invitations.
Proposal & Engagement Cards
A new trend to appear in the last few years is ‘proposal cards’.
These are meant to accompany the ring, and the actual proposal,
making for a memorable flair. After you have accepted his proposal,
you can send ‘engagement’ cards to family and friends to let them
know of the commitment you both have made to one another.
Wedding Announcement Cards
You can follow these up with wedding cards that ‘announce’ that a
date has been agreed upon for your wedding, if you choose. Then of
course, there are ‘wedding shower’ cards to send. You can now send
your wedding invitations to your guests. Remember to include,
‘response’ cards so that your guests can RSVP you.
Honeymoon Cards
A couple may choose to send ‘honeymoon’ cards to friends and family
to inform them of the couple’s wedding vacation plans. This is
especially good for requesting that guests give cash to be used
towards the honeymoon in lieu of other gifts. Gift registry cards
also help guests to decide on gifts that represent the couple’s
individual tastes. This can prevent the couple from receiving gifts
they cannot use, and the need to return these gifts later.
Cards for Attendants
Wedding cards are also available for you to give to your ‘maid of
honor’, bridesmaids, for the mother’s of the bride and groom, the
‘best man’, the groomsmen, and other members of your wedding
entourage. These cards are an opportunity for you to express the
importance and individual contribution that each of these people
made in the celebrating of your union. Don’t forget to send a
special card to the person who performed your marriage ceremony.
Place Cards, Thank You Cards
Wedding cards are present at your wedding gala too. They can be used
as place cards on the tables where guests will be seated. Or you
might create ‘unique’ keepsake cards to give to your guests as a
stylish remembrance of your special day that will be cherished long
after your wedding day concludes. After your ceremony and your
return from the ‘honeymoon’ there will be thank you cards to be
sent.
Choosing Paper and Designs for the Wedding Cards
Wedding cards not only available for every stage of your wedding,
and for all of the people involved in witnessing your special day,
they also come in a wide variety of styles, designs, and materials.
You can choose from traditional styles, or from the many new styles
that have cropped up in the past few years. You can opt for one of
the many designs that retailers have on hand, or perhaps you will
want to create your own ‘original’ designs. You have plenty of
materials to choose from when it comes to cardstock and colors too.
You might like the’ feel’ of lightweight paper or prefer a heavier
bond paper. One other option is to make your cards yourself at home,
on your computer, with a software program dedicated to creating
cards. A fun way to inform friends and family of your wedding plans
is to send, ‘web’ cards via the internet.
