I was notoriously troublesome and messy by nature all through my college days and in spite of everyone repeatedly telling me that I had to give a clean Wedding speech, almost everyone was doubtful about it. Joey himself had dropped me enough hints as to what not to say in my speech. Leave alone my mother and dear sis who made less subtle hints about not poking into the groom's past. Joey and I were the Casanovas of our college and I sure had some juicy stories to share. Here's how my wedding speech as the Best Man went:

"Hello everyone, I am Chris, Joey's college buddy and today, he has taken our friendship to a newer level by choosing me to be his Best Man on his Wedding day. Thanks buddy. I am speechless when you told me it was me who was going to be your best man.

Although I am not the very dependable kind, Joey has showed trust in me by giving me this responsibility. I think I am doing great so far. I have stayed away from the booze so far and I have brought Joey here completely sober. But that is another duty that is so very necessary for me to do. Claire has claims on my sincerity and I must alert her to some really interesting facts about her husband.

Claire, I had promised to tell you all about Joey's ex-girlfriends someday. Well, the day has come. I really have lost count of the women in Joey's life but....

(One of my friend enters with an envelope in his hand and hands it over to Claire, who is really surprised but trying to appear calm).

....here are the 35 names I could remember. Not so fast, let me get this done and you can then take your time to read it.

Mr. and Mrs. Brewer, thank you for hosting this wonderful wedding. It makes me really happy to witness the union of two of my best friends. And now ladies and gentlemen, let us toast to the health and happiness of the newly weds."

I couldn't find my mother among the audience but my sis was right there, glaring at me as if she would eat me. Everyone did seem a little disturbed wondering how Claire would react.

And as for Claire, she opened the envelope soon afterwards. And she did find 35 things written in it....35 loveliest things that Joey had said about her to me. Yes, I had been quietly collecting them from the past 2 months! Right from 'Isn't she the most beautiful woman on earth?' to 'Wow! She is great at planning this wedding. I simply freaked out at the flower shop' and even 'She is THE girl for me. I know it Chris. She makes me feel so complete'.

Claire was blushing as she read through it and strangely enough, everyone forgave me. In fact, they thought it was cute. How strange is that?!
