Wedding Reception Flowers
The wedding reception is a place to celebrate and to enjoy the
company of family and friends. Flowers for wedding receptions should
do just the same. They should be lively and beautiful arrangements
that either highlight the theme or colors of the wedding or should
be lovely features for the reception. There are several different
places that flowers can be used at the reception, both for table and
room decorations.
Centerpieces and tables
Traditionally there will be at least one centerpiece on every table,
which is usually medium in size to allow easy conversations and
unobstructed view of the head table. Often traditional flowers for
centerpieces are roses, daisies, chrysanthemums, and lilies with
accents of a textured flower such as heather, lavender or greenery.
Most medium sized centerpieces will range in price from twenty to
fifty dollars, but of course they can increase in price dramatically
if more exotic flowers or larger arrangements are needed.
The head table will also require a centerpiece, and this one will
compliment the bridal bouquet and is of medium size. The head table
can also be decorated with a swag or “daisy chain” type design of
live flowers or silk arrangements. Roses, lilies, mums, hydrangea or
other larger and sturdier flowers are excellent choices. The head
table bouquet will cost around one hundred dollars, but again size
and flower selection will have a big impact.
Candles and floating arrangements can also be used to make even
smaller bouquets really stand out. White flowers reflect the light
of the candles and can make a truly romantic atmosphere.
A really personalized way to decorate tables is to place a flower
place setting on each plate, with a place card to indicate seating.
These arrangements can then be kept as souvenirs of the wedding. A
place setting will cost between ten and twenty dollars for live
flowers, but can be reduced by about half if you consider using silk
flowers.
Arches
Arches are a very beautiful way to decorate the reception area.
Often the bride and groom will enter through the flowered archway,
and usually will have pictures taken featuring the arch. The cost of
an arch decorated with flowers is often expensive, with most arches
costing over a thousand dollars for a full floral covering. A less
costly option is to have a cluster or swag of flowers around the top
of the arch or arbor. This option is less than half of the cost of a
full arch.
Wall Decorations
Wall decorations can sometimes be easily made from the pew
decorations used at the church. The small baskets or floral
arrangements can easily be hung on the wall using double sided tape
or small hooks. This will eliminate the need to have separate
flowers at the church and at the reception. A wall or pew decoration
is usually priced between thirty and seventy dollars, with more
exotic flowers adding additional cost.
In addition there are also options for centerpieces at the entry, on
the guest book signing table, at the gift table and on the bar or
refreshment area.
