Silk And Artificial Wedding Flowers
Silk and artificial wedding flowers are becoming more popular as the
flowers themselves become more realistic. Good quality silk flowers
are almost impossible to tell from live flowers, however they have
the added benefit of remaining beautiful for years to come.
Decorating with Silk and/or Artificial Flowers
One option with silk flower or artificial flowers is to have a mix
of real and silk flowers for the wedding. Perhaps live flowers could
be used for the bride and bridesmaids, and silk flowers can be used
for the centerpieces. Not only does this same money but it also
provides lovely, long lasting gifts that guests can bring home and
keep as mementos of your special day. In addition to just
centerpieces many weddings include the following floral
arrangements:
• Wreaths are become more popular as decorations for vehicles, head
tables, podiums and even alters at the church.
• Arches are a beautiful and romantic way to enter the reception
area or church. Silk flowers are more lasting than live, and will
not droop or fade throughout the day or evening.
• Floating decorations for centerpieces or pools or waterfalls in
the reception area. All centerpieces should highlight the same
flowers as the wedding party carries, and this can really add up in
cost for live flowers.
• Decorations for the end of church benches or for the front of the
church or wedding area. Theme weddings tend to use these decorations
to add glamour and romance to the ceremony.
• Gifts for family members and friends. Silk flowers can easily be
packed and moved whereas live flowers really cannot be.
• Place card holders and napkin rings can be decorated with small
silk flowers and greenery. These can be taken away as keepsakes of
the wedding, and are often treasured reminders.
Benefits of using Silk and/or Artificial Flowers at Weddings
One of the biggest benefits to using silk or artificial flowers is
that they are more reasonably priced and are always in season. While
a live flower cascading bouquet for a bride may cost three hundred
dollars or more, a silk arrangement is usually less than two
hundred. Smaller bouquets are usually two thirds to one half the
price, and more exotic flowers can be included at a mere fraction of
the live flower price. It is estimated that between two and five
hundred dollars can be saved by using silk flowers for the bridal
party alone. This number, of course, depends on the number of people
in the bridal party as well as the style and size of bouquets and
arrangements.
Another benefit to silk flowers is that they can be arranged a long
time ahead of the wedding and then stored in airtight storage bags.
Often the bride has enough on her plate the days before the wedding
without dealing with last minute decisions on flowers.
A good silk florist can help with making your silk or artificial
wedding flowers all that you dreamed of. Make sure that you take a
picture or have an idea of what you want to use for flowers in the
bouquet. The florist can help you mix and match, and will usually
have pictures of arrangements they have done. Really, the
arrangements will be identical to live flowers, except they will be
lasting silk.
