Some of the expenses of the wedding fall to your shoulders. Don’t worry, you can save money too. First lets cover the traditional expenses (remember these can be different for your wedding):

  • Part of the florist bill

  • The clergy’s fee

  • Your blood test and marriage license

  • The rental or purchase of your wedding attire

  • Both wedding bands

  • The getaway vehicle

  • A gift for your bride

  • The honeymoon

The florist bill:

This one is relatively easy, most of the flowers you must pay for can be artificial flowers. Artificial flowers are much cheaper than fresh and will save time too, because they can be put together weeks before the wedding. Be involved with the decisions that concern the wedding. Remember that picking the flowers helps set the mood for the wedding. Of course using real flowers is absolutely great. Be sure to check around for the best prices. If one florist says they will give you this package for $XX , bring that up to the next florists. Competition is heavy, so they will more than likely try to undercut the first florist.

The Getaway Vehicle:

By all means if you want a limo for your wedding day, hire one. But, before you do , consider what the effect would be to arrive at the reception in a ‘65 mustang or a Bentley. What about arriving in a horse drawn carriage or maybe a coupe de ville. These cars are usually the same price or slightly higher than renting a limo. If you know someone who owns one, ask to borrow it. They may even offer to chauffer you around in it!! Even if the vehicle you would like to use belongs to someone you don’t know, ask them. They may rent it to you, or just ask you to pay for the gas. You never know until you ask. How about arriving in a hay wagon or hot air balloon? Maybe you can some on horse back or on a moped or motorcycle. What about a school bus or a tractor? The possibilities are endless.

The Gift for your lovely Bride:

Imagine what it will be like standing at the wedding, watching the woman you love, walking toward you, dressed in white, Looking more beautiful than she ever has. Take how that makes you feel, and find a gift that will make her feel the same way. First take this piece of advice with you. No amount of money will give her that feeling. So your gift should be from the heart. Here are some tips:

Give her jewelry: Don’t buy the biggest diamond necklace you can find, instead, buy a beginner piece that you can add to each year. For instance, buy a single pearl on a lovely chain. For every anniversary you can add a pearl. Make sure you put a note inside the box that states this. You could buy a charm bracelet with the same intentions.

Give her a collectors item: Does your girl collect precious moments, pigs, pictures of unicorns , carousels? Find her the most unusual piece you can find. One she could never have bought or found before. The more trouble you have to go thru to get it , the more precious it will be to her.

Write her a poem: Yes, it sounds corny. But not just any poem, have the words you used to ask her to marry you, embroidered on a hanky. You could also have them penned in calligraphy onto parchment paper and framed. You could have them printed on a t-shirt or made into a quilt top for your marriage bed.

Buy her a music box: Do you have a “song”? You know, like a song that you call yours? Find a music box that plays it. Or have one ordered if you cant find one.

ON TO THE HONEYMOON:

This honeymoon is the best one!! Not only is it very inexpensive, but it will be the most wonderful time of your life. My hubby and I did this, and it was the best time we have ever had.

Its called a hideaway honeymoon:

*First , Tell everyone you have booked your honeymoon in the Bahamas (or other exotic destination).

*Second, Don’t tell anyone your actually honeymooning in your own home, or nearby town. Not even the best man or your parents.

*Third, A few days before the wedding prepare your honeymoon nest. Stock it with food, beverages, finger foods, deli items, games, romantic movies, LOTS Of candles, champagne and champagne glasses, wine and glasses, romantic music CDs and a CD player, lots of towels, bubble bath, massage oils, fresh strawberries, boxes of chocolates, and any other “items” you feel necessary.

*Fourth, Bring packed suitcases with you to the reception, telling everyone that your flight takes off at a certain time. Be sure to tell everyone the time your flight leaves, so you must be on your way by a certain time. Do not tell anyone the time your flight leaves before the wedding day, otherwise they may prepare a surprise send off at the airport!!

*Fifth, Drive around for awhile just to be sure you are not followed to the “airport”.

*Sixth, Once you get to your “honeymoon” destination, HIDE YOUR CAR!! Unplug the phone, turn off the cell phones, and the computer, and don’t answer the door (unless you ordered pizza). NO MATTER WHAT!!
