Does a wedding planner have to be certified to plan a wedding?

Question:

Does a wedding or an event planner have to be certified to plan a wedding or event?

Answer:

No. Most consultants do take courses and call themselves Certified Planners/Consultants because they have passed certification courses. However, anyone can plan an event at anytime. Some people are very natural in this business and do well planning events without ever taking a course, however, I would always suggest that you at least know the basic aspects of wedding planning and event coordination before taking someone’s money to plan their event!
