When to send a 'Save the Date'?

Question:

We got engaged last month and have fixed a wedding date 9 months from now. My question is - when to send a 'Save the Date'? Should I send it now or is it too early?

Answer:

A 'Save the Date' may be sent upto one year before the Wedding. So now is the right time to send them. It will be easier for all guests to make their plans and out-of-town guests might be able to make travel preparations at a lesser cost.
