Gift Ideas for Groomsmen
One of the delight of any wedding is receiving the gist that your
guests give you in celebration of your publicly announced endearing
lifelong love for one and other. However, as bride and groom you
also have a duty to spend as much time and put as much thought in to
buying gifts for those who have been kind enough to agree to assist
you with the preparation and smooth running of the special of
special days. But, with limited time, this can prove difficult. So
what is the idea gift idea for the groomsmen at your wedding?
Traditional groomsmen gift ideas
Possibly in line with the traditional ‘spirit’ of weddings, most
traditional gifts for groomsmen have some form of association with
drinking. Here, popular traditional gist for groomsmen include beer
tankards and steins, pilsner beer glasses and drinking hip flasks.
If you select a beer tankard of hip flask, these can be made from
either pewter or silver. If you want to make the gift a lasting
memento of your special day, you can engrave the name of the
groomsman on the gift and the date of your wedding, even adding your
initials or names for a touching effect.
Less traditional groomsmen gift ideas
If buying your groomsmen drinking vessels doesn’t appeal to you,
then don’t worry too much as there are literally hundreds of
non-traditional gifts that you can select from to give to the
groomsmen for performing their duties on your special day. Popular
non-traditional gifts to give your groomsmen include watches,
money-clip, wallets, pens and even picture-frames (although you may
want to hold off putting your picture in the frame!). Again, if the
gist is metallic or made of pewter, you can add to the occasion by
engraving the gist with a special message to the groomsman to whom
you are giving the gift.
Alternative groomsmen gifts that you may not have considered giving,
but which may be fun, include:
- an engraved pocket-watch
- leather shaving bag with accessories, such a razor and shaving
brush; or
- an engraved business-card holder
Also, if your groomsman is into sport or leisure activities, why not
giving them something practical that they can use every time they’re
playing or relaxing, such as a nice monogrammed golf-bag, fishing
gear, binoculars, or even a camera.
If all else fails
Another common mistake made by many a bride and groom is the feeling
that all groomsmen have to get the same gift. This is plainly silly,
as no two people like the same thing, so unless you are getting a
good discount why should you buy a group present? Remember that this
is your special day and so you want to make sure that those special
people who have seen you through this day receive a gift that they
are going to treasure and keep as a keepsake for the rest of their
lives. And the only way you can be sure to achieve this is to make
sure you buy that extra special gift you know the groomsman will
treasure for the rest of his life.
Remember, however, that you need to make sure you don’t go crazy
with your selected groomsmen gifts and make sure you stay within a
pre-selected budget for these that you know you can afford. After
all, you want your wedding day to be memorable for all the right
reasons and not because you’ll be paying off the wedding gifts for
the next 10 years.
